Mokhtar Paki, Berkeley, CA, Dream Deferred Lithograph

I feel the sorrow of thousands of young Iranian gay men whose dreams of living with love and freedom have been deferred.  The law in Iran criminalizes consensual same-sex sexual activity, which is punishable by death, flogging, or a lesser punishment.  Since 1979, the Iranian regime has executed hundreds of LGBTQ members.

The blurred Farsi words in the poster are part of the text of Iranian Punishment Law against homosexuals.

Mokhtar lives in the Bay Area and works as a visual artist and art teacher. Mokhtar create his mixed media works or paints his acrylic images and exhibit
them at his studio Firehouse Art Collective regularly. In his acrylic paintings and mixed media works, time and place are as blurred as the border between contemporary life and mythology. Drawing lines are inseparable from the paints he put on canvas. There is nothing as rewarding as a creative process being observed and imposed in a final work.

His Daily Sketches, reflecting social, cultural and political environment has been posted uninterrupted at the social medias since November 9, 2017.
