Rodriguez was born in 1972 in Tacámbaro, Michoacán, México. From 1990 to 1994 he was Master Printer Assistant at Juan Pascoe’s Martin Pescador Workshop in Tacámbaro, Michoacán, México. He attended printmaking classes in Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, CA. and in Self-Help Graphics, Los Angeles, CA. In 1999-2000 he received the scholarship for Young Artists from Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) in Mexico. Published Books: 2003 He founded the editorial La Mano Press, with the publication of the book “José Guadalupe Posada, 150 Years.” 2001 “Woodcuts of Women”. Linocuts by Artemio Rodriguez, stories by Dagoberto Gilb. Grove Press, New York. 1999 “Lotería Cards and Fortune Poems. A Book of Lives.” 114 linocuts by Artemio Rodríguez with poems by Juan Felipe Herrera. City Lights Books, San Francisco, CA. 1996 “Aesop’s Fables”. In Nahuatl and Spanish, published by Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) and the Martin Pescador Workshop.
