Mariana Garibay is an accomplished painter, printmaker and installation artist. Through her works she transforms the threads that connect the real and the imaginary into magical environments that reference nature, regeneration, science and the otherworldly. Her work has been exhibited through the Bay Area and Mexico. Most recent exhibitions: Conceptual Landscapes, MACLA, San Jose, 2010 and Life Elsewhere, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, 2009. Garibay has taught in the Bay Area through Kala Art Institute’s Artists-in-Schools program, SFMOMA, de Young Art Center, Mission Grafica and the Richmond Art Center. In 2005, she received an emerging artist commission from the Alameda County Arts Commission. She is currently completing her degree in painting and drawing at the California College of the Arts. She is a recipient of the CCA Faculty Honors Award and the William & Gloria Brobeck Scholarship.
