Julia Oehmke began her studies with the Drisi Academy of Fine Art and later with the Koh-Varilla Studio for sculpting. Portraiture is her forte. Since childhood she has been interested in the observation of people and in adulthood has concentrated on commissions in both painting and sculpting. She has been widely publicized in books and magazines including Newsweek on line. Her work has been recently included in both books by Ivy Sundell “Art Scene Chicago” and also a year exhibition at O’Hare International Airport “Earth and Sky.” Burnham Publishers chose her painting “freedom” for a book cover, “Native American Justice.” Oehmke serves as a member of the board of directors for the John Vanderpoel Museum and the Chicago Society of Artists. julilafineart@aol.com
