José Andreu

José Agustín Andreu was born in Mexico City of Puerto Rican parents and raised in Puerto Rico, Spain, France and the United States. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA with a BFA in 1982 and from the UW, Madison, WI with a MFA in 1986. He has exhibited in the USA, Mexico, Cuba, and Europe and currently teaches painting and drawing at the SAIC and 2-D design at Columbia College Chicago. Jose’s work documents the morphology of identity. It uses structures that reflect abstract ideas about space, form, and illusion as well as color and light.
