Maureen Warren (b. Chicago, USA) received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduating from SAIC, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to Eastern Europe, where she studied at the Academies of Fine Art in Warsaw and Cracow, Poland. Upon returning to the U.S., she earned a MFA in Painting from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Maureen traveled widely and images from other countries, and their unique Cultures, have been a constant source of ideas for her work. In the past, birds have flown in and out of her paintings. Recently the birds have become important residents in her work. Birds transcend time and culture, are silent witnesses, steadfast companions, comrades and conscience bearers. Maureen exhibits in the U.S. and internationally.
