Catherine Cajandig is a painter, printmaker, muralist and educator who has had sixteen one women shows. She has received many grants and awards. Her work has been exhibited in juried and invitational shows in the U. S., Italy, Spain and Mexico and has been represented in books and other published works and many public and private collections. She received BAE and MAE from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and a MFA from Instituto Allende, Univ. of Guanajuato, Mexico. She majored in painting and printmaking with special emphasis in lithography and studied classical Japanese printmaking, Ukiyo-e color print techniques with Ansei Uchima. She has been art instructor and Adjunct Assoc. Prof. at Univ. of Illinois, Chicago, Art Institute of Chicago, Vermont College and Chicago Public Schools. She is currently working to restore the mural “Children Are Our Future” part of the 606 Bloomingdale Trail project in Chicago.
