In North American culture, it was carried by the gambler, sold by curio shops and in vending machines at one time believed to bring good luck. Booker T Washington carried “the left hind foot of a graveyard rabbit, killed in the dark of the moon”. This suggests the rabbit’s foot’s particular attributes connect to how the rabbit may have been killed in a particular place, killed by a particular method, or by a person possessing particular attributes.
