Arceo was born in Cojumatlán de Régules, Michoacán in 1959. Resides in Chicago since 1979 where he received his Fine Arts degree and a Teacher Certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a co-founder of Taller Mexicano de Grabado (now Taller Mestizarte) in Chicago. He has shown collectively and individually in dozens of exhibitions in United States, Mexico, Canada, Poland and Spain. Recent solo exhibitions include: 1990 “Rene Arceo: Recent Works” – Francisco Goitia Museum, Zacatecas and in the Gabriel Flores Gallery, University of Guadalajara. 1991 “Rene Arceo Recent Works: Drawings and Engravings” – Museum of Contemporary Art, Morelia and the Museum José Guadalupe Posada, Aguascalientes. 1992 “Recent Works” – Palace of Culture, Tlaxcala. 2001 “Threads of the Spirit” – Expressions Graphics, Oak Park, Illinois. René Arceo: Retrospective – The Llorona Art Gallery, Chicago, IL. 2002 Nowe Ekspresje: Antyczne Korzenie – Gallery BWA, Zamosc and Academickie Centrum Kultury, Lublin, Poland. Arceo has received acquisition and production prizes, and scholarships to show his works in Mexico, United States and Poland. His artworks are in several art collections including: The National Museum of the Print, Autonomous University of Tlaxcala (Mexico).
