John Pitman Weber • 2015

 

John Pitman Weber best known for his pioneering community based public art, is also active in the studio, painting and making prints. He has made relief prints since childhood. He studied intaglio with S.W. Hayter, Atelier 17 in Paris and lithography at the School of the Art Institute. One of his large woodcuts, from the “52 Weeks” project, is part of the Gulf Labor Coalition’s presence at the 2015 Venice Biennale. He is emeritus, retired from Elmhurst College. His home-studio is in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood.
